CounseLing vs. CounseLLing

It’s a matter of geography. Since you are one of those U.S. persons outside the United States we will use the word “CounseLLor”.

“Counsellor” is the preferred spelling outside the United States.

If you prefer to use the word “counselor” you probably are not interested in joining the large numbers of Americans who are renouncing U.S. citizenship.

Speaking of counselling:

Because I am a lawyer, any counselling session you have with me will be governed by the rules of “lawyer client” privilege. This means that:

“What’s said in my office, stays in my office.”
